Today was certainly a unique experience to say the least.
The first service was a great service with an outstanding altar call as people are responding to the message of "MENTALITY". We are indeed changing our way of thought. God is so Good. During this service we noticed the wind was blowing harder and harder and the electric would flicker but no significant event.
Well by the time the second service gets here it is nearing hurricane force winds outside. The news had forecast a windy day but nothing of this magnitude! People still braved the elements of Nature to make the worship service and it was definitely worth the bravery. Pastor Curtis and the NVMC choir took us into the presence of God. All the while the winds outside grew stronger and stronger.
I would start week #2 of Mentality and about 7 minutes into the message the power went out! Wow! It was an awesome experience that only the people in attendance can really explain. It was kind a great thing as people just starting praising God! It was a special moment. Somebody got me a flashlight so I could read my scripture and I just Gave the overview of the message and it turned out pretty good. Jim Arnold would later classify this day as "Flashlight Sunday" and I think that is fitting.
NVMC continues to prove it substance as we continue our journey to the promise. If we have all the answers and all the resources we won't need God. We serve a Miracle working God that is ready to demonstrate his power.
Have a great week!
p.s.
After church was another experience as we would realize that Louisville had been battered and power was out to over 300,00 people. Just getting something to eat was a major challenge.
This past week I had the privilege of spending an hour or so with Rev. J.B. Youngblood. Every time I get the chance to talk with this man I do my best to take advantage of it. He is a church planter, Long term Pastor, Author, and respected man of God. Many people do not know this but this man personally built our old sanctuary now known as Ground Zero. His endorsement was one of the opening doors for me to become the pastor of NVMC.
He has been battling some health problems that had many of us concerned but the last week or so God has brought him back to a better than before condition. I was so good to see him at church this past Sunday and seeing him get around the way he does.
I always ask him to shoot it straight with me concerning the church and he does. I am thankful that a man of this caliber takes time to share his wisdom of experience with me. His life to me is precious, his friendship is sincere, and his wisdom is priceless. I have talked with him about some difficult issues of pastoral decisions and direction and he has always been available . I value this man of God and I wanted to Honor him today.
I was in St. Louis Missouri when the attack on the World Trade center took place. When I heard what happened I went straight to my apartment and set and watched the TV with totally disbelief of how this could actually happen in our own country. While I was watching the Second plane would hit.
I will never forget the images displayed on the screen from the pain of the victims and the thoughts of the people trapped inside the hit floors. When The buildings crumbled my heart sank and I wouldn't leave the TV the rest of the day.
This event changed our lives as the reality of hatred in the world would present itself not by the news in another country but this time it was revealed in our own backyard.
Where was you on the 9/11 attacks? What was your thought process?
Today I had the great privilege of hosting 33 pastors plus other ministry leaders from across Kentucky and as far away as Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. I felt as God wanted me to began sharing our story and encouraging other pastors in reaching their unlimited potential in building city changing churches.
At first I was intimidated to even think of an idea such as this but then I realized that God has and is doing a great work in New Vision Ministry Center and our story is worth telling and our ideas are worth sharing. Ever 4-6 weeks I will bring these pastors in to our church and pour into them and help them overcome their challenges. I can share with them our strength's and our weaknesses and help by being a source of advice and experience in these situations.
I found it refreshing for myself as well! I was blessed by the diversity of people who came hungry to do more for God. These people have dreams of doing big things for God just as the people of NVMC and we always find our that God is Faithful!
In other words we have partnered with all of these ministries today and from this point on their victories are our Victories and their burdens are our burdens. We are on the same team and at the end of the day it is about the Kingdom of God.
God continues to use NVMC to impact the heart of the city and we will continue our pursuit to change this city one life at a time.
Today was another great day at NVMC!!!
Today is a Great day for Ryan Johnson as he made it to Hollywood on the TV show American Idol. I met Ryan and his wife Karla through my dear Friends and staff members Luke and Julie Morgan and they all are wonderful people to have in my life.
Ryan and Karla have a beautiful family and have been ministering to audiences around the united states through a kicking band called Instereo. Instereo has rocked it out in numerous Winterfest and churches including our very own New Vision Ministry Center. You can check out his Bands myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/instereoband
Ryan is a super fun guy and even better than that he is a real Christian. God is going to use his faithfulness to shine on a worldwide stage. Be praying for him that he becomes the next AMERICAN IDOL! How cool is that.

Some personal thoughts:
As I look at our church I cannot help but swell with pride. I am truly grateful for the privilege of leading the people of NVMC. I also take very serious the responsibility that goes along with the call. I always want NVMC to be that special place of Love, Acceptance, and Forgiveness as well as truly being a Church for people like you. At the same time I want our converts to grow and mature in the things of God. In other words I want to see real change in people lives as I believe that God requires it.
Many people take advantage of God's grace in the fact they see it as a green light to sin but In reality grace gives us the power to overcome our sin. These next several weeks we are going to be raw and unplugged and it is going to stretch all of us. At times the process might be painful but the end result will produce righteousness before God.
We continue to grow and God continues to bless but the time has come for our babies to grow up! Don't miss any week and make plans to attend wednesday nights as we explore our doctrine on what we believe. God is doing something great in the people of NVMC...

We will be hosting pastors from as far as Arkansas, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and around the state of Kentucky that are ready to go big for God. These Pastors and ministers are not only “Church Of God” but multiple church organizations will be present and they are all welcome. This is a Kingdom thing and nothing else.
I challenge you to come with your ideas, questions, and problems and we will learn to network together to make us all better. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 27:17 – “As Iron sharpens Iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” I believe this is the call for these sessions for all of us to sharpen one another.
If you know of a pastor or ministry friend that would benefit from this please send them an invite and have the RSVP Via my office or email. Everyone is welcome! If you are planning to attend and have not notified us please do so to assist in our planning. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you and I look forward to our time together.

Pastor David Boggs
SAMPLE SAMPLE!!!!
These are the words that you will hear daily as you walk into the Jefferson mall as the Chinese restaurant owner will tease you with a piece of bourbon chicken on a toothpick. Yesterday I wanted a steak sandwich but as I had to go by her store to get there. Needless to say the temptation of "Sample Sample" changed my destination and I had Chinese for lunch.
As I was eating the good food I couldn't help but think about how many people change their minds because of Sample Sample? This Lady is constantly working hard and because of it their is always a line to purchase her food. People come to the mall to eat something different but her voice and her chicken on a stick often changes your direction.
As I watch our church grow and people shift gears from being on fire for God to non existent to even come back again I realize what is happening. People are going to the world and they are hearing the cry of the devil saying sample sample with sin on a stick. Most of us already know what sin taste like and the sample sample reminds us of how much fun it can be. The taste of Sin for a moment sends people into a tailspin spiritually that often times they cannot recover from!
I hate the devil! But this Month we are starting our new sermon series that will empower the believer to overcome temptation of Sample Sample. We are going to be strong in the Lord and we are going to push the enemy back and walk in the fullness of God.
The Truth is people must have a desire to live for God. If you are tired of giving in to Sample Sample of the devil be at NVMC both on wednesday nights and Sunday's as we grow together in God's word.
In other words learn to tell Sample Sample... No thanks!
